As a prelude to Kid's Voting on November 5 and Election Day on November 6, all First Grade classes will participate in a mini research project in the library. We will build understanding of United States Presidents, First Ladies, First Families and the White House through an exploration of the First Families' pets. Students will participate in a mock election and vote for names of some of the dogs and cat puppets in the library. Once named, these puppets will serve as the start of literacy baskets that will rotate among the First Grade classrooms.

Please keep in mind, while we promote the Internet as a fabulous source of information, we still recommend that Internet use always be supervised by an adult. Even with kid-friendly web sites, it is easy to link out of these sites. This would be a great opportunity for you and your child to continue discussions on Internet safety.
