Mayflower  Housing 
  • The mayflower is a long ship.
  • The Pilgrims were on the ship for 65 days.
  • There wer 102 Pilgrims going to America.
  • america was NOT yet the USA.
  • There was a big storm and some people died.
  • they arrived in America in the winter time, and many people died.
  • They wanted to get to VA., But the weather prevented them from getting there
  • The ship was no meant for people, it was meant fo cargo.
  • The Mayflower was not a very large ship.
  • The ship was 100 feet long.
  • It was VERY crowede inside the ship.
  • The people got seasick.
  • They used a pot as a toilet-didn't have privacy.
  • Many people were thrown against the walls of the ship and got injured. 
  • Many people died over the firest winter
  • The Great Cabin wasn't so large and great, 
  • Their houses were 800 square feet.
  • They had chimneys.
  • The roofs were made of straw.
  • The houses were small like an apartment.
  • Inside the house there was a fireplace.
  • The house were made of wood. 
Clothes  Food 
  • they had to tie their "breeches" up.
  • "Breeches" are pants.
  • Boys and girls both wore dresses before they were six and seven.
  • The girls wore several layers of clothes
  • They didn't have sewing machines.
  • boys and girls had to wear a lot of clothes.
  • The girls wore aprons. 
  •  
  • They hunted ducks.
  • They did not use forks.
  • They used cloths to wipe their fingers.
  • They ate mussels. 
Chores  School 
  • Sometimes the Pilgrims couldn't wash their clothes because it was difficult getting water.
  • They put animal droppings on the farming area to help the soil produce more plants.
  • In the Pilgrim times they had no ovens.
  • They had to get water all by themselves.
  • They had to get wood for themselves.
  • They had to drink fresh water. 
  • Their schools were different from ours.
  • They studied at home.
  • They read Bible verses.
  • They played blind man's bluff. 
Games  First Thanksgiving 
  • They used a marble to go through an arch. 
  • They ate their food with their hands and clamshells.
  • They had duck for the feast.
  • They also ate corn and greens.
  • Squanto helped them learn how to grow corn.
  • They also ate mussels.
  • The Wampanoags and the Pilgrims played different types of games.
  • The Pilgrims used a musket to shoot the ducks that they ate.
  • They danced.
  • They played a game called Blind Man's Bluff.
  • They practiced shooting.
  • They sang and danced together.
